New York State 2-1-1
Through a formal resolution approved in February 2002, the Public Service Commission in New York State recognized the 2-1-1 NY Collaborative as the responsible entity for planning and guiding the rollout of 2-1-1 throughout the state. United Way of New York State and the New York State Alliance of Information and Referral Systems support the work of the 2-1-1 NY Collaborative. National 2-1-1
On Friday, July 21, 2000, the FCC assigned 2-1-1 to serve as the three digit number for access to information and referral services. This number would be available to communities nationwide. The United Way of America (UWA) and the Alliance of Information and Referral Systems (AIRS) lead the national 2-1-1 initiative.
