Details of Search Process

There are two kinds of searches:

  • By category - selections from a list of services
  • With words - entry of words relating to a kind of service or to the name of an agency or program

If you choose to search by word, we recommend:

  • Enter one word or part of a word, rather than the full name
Choose "partial word" from the options, located directly under the area where you entered the word for which you’re searching.

Search by Category

On the left side of the main screen, under the heading "Browse Service Categories," click on one of the categories. Subcategories will be displayed. Click on the Subcategory closest to your area of interest. Services will be displayed below the Subcategory. Click on the service closest to your area of interest. Definitions for each service term are available by clicking on the information icon (blue circle with an i) to the left of each term. Once a service is chosen, you will be presented with the "Search Our Services" screen. To display services first in your zip code, city, or county - enter your zip code, city, or county. To display all services, leave all the zip code, city and county fields blank and click on "Show me everything, regardless of location." "Optional Information" enables us to collect anonymous data about who is searching the database. It will enable us to research more programs and services for users based on their age and gender. Agencies/programs offering the service you chose will be displayed with their contact information, in order, by the name of the county in which they are located. Click on the underlined program or service to get additional information.

Navigation
You will notice, at the top of each screen, there are "bread crumbs" which show your progress searching through the database. At anytime, you can click on one of the "crumbs" (links) to go back to a previous screen. This is useful if you decide you want to search on a different service, or if you clicked on a term by mistake.
